Mission statement:Located in the Eastern Townships of Quebec, the mission of Richmond County Historical Society is to collect, research, conserve and share the history of Richmond County and vicinity. RCHS maintains an archive accessible year round by appointment and a seasonal museum with bilingual guides.

Museum season - 2018
The 2018 Museum season will be from June 20 until August 12. The hours will be Wednesday – Sunday afternoons (1:00 to 5:00 p.m.). Bilingual guides will tour the visitors through the Manse and explain the exhibits. Admission by donation.

Located in a 170 year old home in Upper Melbourne which had served as a manse for St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church ministers, the museum is furnished with donations from the community as a typical house of the last century. The Society will offer guided bilingual tours of the Museum as well as group tours for schools and other organizations.

The society maintains an archive with historical papers and documents of particular interest to Richmond County. These documents include paper records (letters, diaries, journals and other unpublished written materials); photographs and other visual records; maps, plans and architectural records; sound recordings and oral history tapes; printed material (eg. local newspapers, books), electronically stored data and the records of the Richmond County Historical Society.

    Time Capsule

  • Richmond County Historical Society holds an Annual General Meeting in the spring and a Harvest Luncheon in the autumn as well as monthly executive meetings. The Museum Opening Tea and the annual Ice Cream Social are popular events. Special exhibits of the history of the region and arts and crafts are displayed at the Museum and Archives Centre each season.
